If you live in the DC area and haven’t tried Red Apron Burger Bar yet, you’re seriously missing out. We’ve had some awesome burgers in our lifetime, but nothing compares to the deliciousness of their noms. Their joint’s kind of like an upscale fast-food restaurant with a bar-like vibe. You order at their counter up front then grab a table afterwards to get your grub on.
Let’s kick things off with the Standard. This magical burger came with two patties (you can opt for a single if a double’s too much for you), white american cheese, pickles, shaved onion, and their special sauce. We got this baby with a side of beef fat fries because our meal would’ve been incomplete without them. Seasoned with roasted garlic and rosemary, they were obscenely delicious and a definite must-try for lovers of garlic.
Next up was El Jefe ($8.75). Made with a chorizo patty, smoked chimichurri, avocado, pickled red onion, and sour cream, the flavor profile and tenderness of this delectable dish completely blew us away.
The Yardbird ($8.35) was made with yogurt marinated chicken, pickles, whipped feta, harissa, mayo, and lettuce. If you’re not in the mood for red meat, definitely give this a go because it was ridiculously tasty, like we-never-knew-chicken-could-be-so-good kind of tasty.
If you’re on a no-carb diet, just let them know and they’ll serve you their kickass protein on a bed of lettuce instead, AND by the way, speaking of options they sell veggie burgers as well. We haven’t had a chance to sample them yet, but we have a feeling they’ll be delish. If you like enjoying burgers with dranks, they sell wines, beers, nomtastic cocktails and milkshakes in addition to soft drinks.
