16 on the Park: Dinner with a View

When Like the Tea Eats invited us to join her at 16 on the Park for dinner, it was a no brainer for us.  We love great food, and she’s kind of the bomb.com so we knew it’d be a good time.  If you’re a Baltimorean, and you’re unfamiliar with this restaurant, it’s probably because it’s fairly new.  It’s located on top of the Residence Inn at the Johns Hopkins Medical Campus, and they’ve been open since October.  They serve upscale American food along with craft cocktails, seasonal beers, and more.

We started our meal off with the following apps:

  • Maryland Crab Sliders ($14):  Served on top of brioche buns with roasted garlic aioli.
  • Brussel Sprouts ($5):  flash fried in a spicy soy glaze.
  • Shrimp Cocktail ($15):  6 pieces of super fresh shrimp served with cocktail sauce.
  • Bmore Mac ‘n Cheese ($12):  made with Thomasville cheddar and lobster.
  • Charcuterie & Cheese ($16):  a variety of cured meats and cheeses served with grain mustard cornichons and fig jam.

Everything was solid, but the mac ‘n cheese + charcuterie platter were standouts.  The mac had large chunks of lobster, and the pasta was cooked perfectly.  The charcuterie was fresh and came with an impressive assortment of goodies.  Order the noodz for yourself and the platter for the table to share.  The mac was easily the best thing we had that night so you definitely have to indulge if you come here.

We pretty much ordered every appetizer on the menu – ok, not really, but we got a lot – so we went easy on entrees.  We ended up ordering their Flat Iron Steak ($23) and their Lobster Roll ($17), and both were legit.  If you’re a fan of lobster, you need to get this as your main…in addition to the lobster mac we raved about earlier.  Also, it gets bonus points because it comes with crispy, perfectly salted fries.

The flat iron steak was prime wagyu and was served with fingerling taters and veggies in a magical sauce.  The meat was cooked perfectly, and each bite was tender and flavorful.  We’d definitely get this again – it was delicious and priced super reasonably.  Although 16 on the Park has a swanky vibe, they have a lot of affordable options on their menu.  For example, their Fell’s Point Flatbread is only $11, and their fish tacos? Only $12.  The steak pictured below is the priciest item on their menu so you won’t be doling out an obscene amount of moolah to eat here.
