Hey Nomsters, we’re extra excited for today’s post because we’re celebrating Nomtastic Foods by indulging in Lobsterfest today…lots and lots of good food…as always.  We’ve been at it for a solid year, and we’re proud of how far we’ve come and really grateful for all the support we’ve received.  I’m Robby, and I run Nomtastic foods with my co-founder and girlfriend, Kim.  We both manage separate accounts in addition to this, but we’ll talk more about that some other time – we’re actually thinking about adding a bio or an about section?  Let us know if that’s something you’d be interested in reading.

Anywho, we’ve been doing long distance for the last year and a half – I live in San Francisco, and she lives in Maryland.  That’s why our blog + social platforms cover NorCal and the DMV (DC/MD/VA) so often!  To celebrate Nomtastic Foods’ birthday, we drove over to the Red Lobster in Columbia, MD for Lobsterfest.  They added a bunch of new exciting plates to the mix so we were PUMPED (understatement of the year).  Shout out to Dennis, our bamf waiter for being so awesome and attentive. See how spacious and clean the restaurant was?  And if you’re wondering why there were so many empty tables, it’s because we went at 11 (right when they opened) for a VERY early lunch.

We started our meal off with a glass of their Tropical White Sangria.  It came with a cool charm and was made with moscato, pineapple and mango juices with a splash of Spite for a touch of fizz – definitely make sure to get this is you’re big into pineapple! The Lobster Lover’s Punch also sounded really good though – made with Captain Morgan, Bacardi, and Malibu Rum and shaken with berry and pineapple juice.  FYI:  it comes in a collectible glass that you can take home – they’re giving them out in honor of their 50th anniversary!

We placed our orders for apps and munched happily on bread and salad as we waited for our food.  Their cheddar biscuits are LIFE by the way, like we’d honestly go back just to satisfy our carb cravings, ha.  Anywho, we got the following starters to share:  Chilled Lobster and Shrimp Cocktail & Seafood Stuffed Mushrooms (one of our go-tos).

The cocktail came with chilled split petite Maine lobster tails and jumbo shrimp with their signature cocktail sauce.  It was all super fresh, and the cocktail sauce complemented the seafood beautifully.  The mushrooms were LOADED with seafoody goodness, smothered in Monterey jack cheese and baked to warm gooey perfection.

Then came our mains!  We’re suckers for cheesy anything so when we saw Lobster Truffle Mac & Cheese listed, that was a no-brainer for us.  Think huge chunks of Maine and langostino lobster with cavatappi pasta in a cheesy truffle lobster cream, topped with Parmesan panko bread crumbs.  It was quite possibly the BEST lobster mac ‘n cheese we’ve ever tasted.  The noodles were perfectly cooked and dressed with the PERFECT amount of sauce – the crumbs (aka crispy morsels of perfection) elevated the dish tenfold with their goodness.

More shots of the lobster mac because it was so freakin’ delicious…

We didn’t take shots of the second plate, but it’s definitely worth mentioning since it’s yet another all-time fave.  The Parrot Isle Jumbo Coconut Shrimp is basically heaven on a plate.  The flaky coconut coating is fried to perfection and is served with their signature piña colada sauce.  If you haven’t tried this yet, you need to STAT!  And remember to indulge in lobsterfest. You can choose from nine new and classic lobster dishes prepared in a variety of craveable ways, including roasted, grilled, topped and steamed.
