What’s up, Nomsters! Summer is finally here and it’s time to live it up under the sun. Our favorite way to enjoy the beautiful weather is to host a get-together with all our close friends and family, and nothing brings a gathering together quite like some delicious, refreshing summer cocktails.

But how do you make a memorable cocktail without any bartending experience?

Well, we had the amazing opportunity to partner up with Prairie Organic Spirits to craft some unique and easy-to-make cocktails that are perfect to keep you cool and wow your guests all at the same time. Anyone can make these with just a few simple ingredients and one trip to their local supermarket.

Unique, memorable cocktails begin with picking the right ingredients. If you want to impress your guests, you need to start with great quality and that’s why we always reach for Prairie Organic Spirits because we know we’ll be getting a thoughtfully crafted bottle of vodka or gin. They’ve won awards for their unique flavors, which isn’t surprising considering their focus on quality starting at the very base-level farming and choosing of only the best organic corn. Trust us—very few other spirits brands can say that!

We’re all about eating organic foods and being as healthful as we can be, so we were super impressed when we saw that Prairie Organic was one of the first USDA Certified Organic spirit brands, and remains the #1 brand in the organic category. The three products they offer are Prairie Organic Gin, Prairie Organic Vodka, and Prairie Organic Cucumber Flavored Organic Vodka. All of them are amazing on their own if you’re more of a straight sipper, but in our opinion, they really shine when complemented by other ingredients in nomtastic summer cocktails!

The only two simple, refreshing summer cocktails you need to keep your party guests having a great time are the Cucumber Berry Collins and the Gimlet. All the fruits and vegetables we used to craft these drinks were organic because quality spirits deserve quality complementary ingredients.

Simple Summer Cocktails: Cucumber Berry Collins

The first of the summer cocktails we’re excited to share with you is the Cucumber Berry Collins! Looks cool, right? All the different colors from the fruits and min leaves is really eye-catching and will definitely impress your crew. The best part about it? It looks complex, but it’s super easy! You can make it in a punch bowl, a pitcher, or individual glasses, and everyone will legitimately think you’re a pro bartender.

Check the recipe below:

  • 2 ounces of Prairie Organic Cucumber Flavored Organic Vodka OR Prairie Organic Gin
  • 1 ounce of Lime Juice
  • 1 ounce of Simple Syrup (or sugar water if you’d rather)
  • 1 Club Soda
  • 5 Thin Cucumber Slices
  • 1 Mint Leaf
  • Blackberries
  • Raspberries
  • 1 Sliced Strawberry
  • Optional fruit/cucumber skewer garnish
  • Ice

You may think the recipe looks daunting at first, but we guarantee it only takes 10-15 minutes to whip up a whole punch bowl of this stuff! Despite there being a bunch of ingredients, the ONLY two that require any preparation are the cucumber slices and the strawberry slices. The mint leaves, blackberries, and raspberries are literally just washed and thrown into the bowl whole. It’s best prepared in a shaker bottle with ice.

If you actually have some time and want to kick this cocktail up a notch, you can muddle some of the blackberries, raspberries, and mint leaves together and stir them in to add some extra freshness and texture!

The amounts listed above are for one serving in a Collins glass, so if you want to fill a punch bowl or pitcher, just increase everything to your desired size. It’s fizzy, refreshing, and the infused flavors of the fruits, cucumber and mint leaves totally complement the Prairie Organic Gin or Cucumber Flavored Organic Vodka. You’ll never go back to processed juices and fake fruit flavors in cocktails again after you have legit organic spirits infused with real fruits and vegetables!

Simple Summer Cocktails: Gimlet

If you really need to simplify things and throw something together in minutes, you can totally do so without sacrificing quality! Now, we’re not taking credit for creating Gimlets – the cocktail is actually very popular and has been around forever. But we do have our own take on it, which we think makes it perfect for summer cocktails.

Peep the recipe:

  • 2.5 ounces of Prairie Organic Gin
  • 1 ounce of Lime Juice
  • 1/2 ounce of Simple Syrup
  • 1 Lime
  • Ice

This one is super quick and easy, and is ultra refreshing. Just mix it all in a shaker with ice, and use a strainer to pour it into stemmed glasses to keep it cool longer in the heat.

For a garnish and to add some pop to the glasses, you have a few options. Our personal fave is to take a knife and slice a thin oval-shaped piece of the outer rind of either a lime or lemon to put into the glass. It infuses the oils and aroma of the rind into the Gimlet, which adds an extra kick of freshness. You can also add a lime, lemon, or orange wedge to the lip of the glass. With this garnish you can actually squeeze the fruit juice into the Gimlet for some extra citrus flavor. Or you can do both like we did in the photos!

Hope this helps make your next get together a refreshing success! And remember – stick to the quality organic awesomeness of Prairie Organic Spirits along with tasty, healthful, organic fruits and vegetables, and you’ll have better drinks all around. They have a distinct, unique, award-winning taste that its distillers and farmers have worked hard to differentiate, and you can taste quality in each and every sip. Till next time, Nomsters!
