Description

These air fryer Korean short ribs (galbi) marinate in Assi galbi BBQ sauce, then air-fry at 400F for 7 to 8 minutes into tender, caramelized LA-style short ribs, no grill required.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 7 LA-style flanken-cut short ribs (about 1 1/2 to 2 lbs)
  • 1 cup Assi Galbi Korean BBQ Sauce
  • 1 stalk green onion (sliced)
  • 1 tsp white sesame seeds

Equipment

Instructions

  1. Marinate overnight. Add the short ribs and Assi Galbi Korean BBQ Sauce to a zip-top freezer bag. Seal it, pressing out as much air as possible, and turn it to coat every rib. Refrigerate overnight (24 hours is even better), flipping the bag once partway through.
  2. Let them rest. When ready to cook, take the ribs out of the fridge and let them sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat. Preheat the air fryer to 400F.
  4. Air-fry in a single layer. Lay as many ribs as fit in one layer and cook 7 to 8 minutes, until caramelized at the edges. Use only one tray at a time so they sear instead of steam. Work in batches if needed.
  5. Garnish and serve. Plate the ribs and top with sliced green onion and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • Marinate overnight for the best flavor and tenderness. A few hours works in a pinch since store-bought galbi sauce is concentrated, but longer is better.
  • Cook in a single layer, one tray at a time. Crowding steams the ribs and you lose the caramelized char.
  • Let the ribs sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking so they cook evenly.
  • Reheat leftovers in the air fryer at 350F to crisp the edges back up. The microwave makes them rubbery.
  • No Assi sauce? Any Korean galbi or bulgogi marinade works, or make your own with soy sauce, sugar, garlic, sesame oil, and grated pear.
