Alnico SF: The Asian Fusion Brunch Spot You Need to Try

There are lots of good spots for brunch in SF, but it’s not every day that you find a place that’s doing something a bit more unique. Alnico SF does Asian fusion brunch, and it was seriously good! Some of the dishes will be familiar like the french toast, and others will lean towards the more creative and different like the ube hotcakes, but each has their own flare and Asian twist on the classic dishes. Let’s just jump into it!

Ube Hotcakes

The ube hotcakes from Alnico SF were everything I could have wanted in a sweet brunch dish. They’re the hotcakes surrounded by a sweet ube coconut sauce and topped with mixed berries and powdered sugar. If you’re an ube fan, definitely give this one a shot!

Korean Chicken Wings-n-Waffles

Next up, their Korean Chicken Wings-n-Waffles is a really fun twist on chicken and waffles with black sesame butter on the waffles and honey-soy glaze on the chicken. Korean fried chicken is one of my favorite things ever, so it was a welcome change of pace. The waffles and the chicken had a nice crispiness to them on the outside, and the portions were big enough to have left overs, which is never a bad thing!

French Toast

This is probably the most familiar of all the dishes we tried, but there are still some delicious twists Alnico SF added including jackfruit and plantains. It’s the sweetest of all three dishes, for sure, but the toast is perfectly done, and I’d definitely recommend it!
