Created by Chef Matt Baker and his team at Gravitas, Baker’s Daughter is Ivy City’s new all-day market and cafe. Located across the street from his Michelin star restaurant, they offer everything from locally-baked pastries to four-course carryout meals.
They work directly with their favorite suppliers, stocking their shelves with the best of the best. Expect artisan cheeses, specialty oils and vinegars, charcuterie, condiments, dips, produce, seafood and oh so much more. Chef-curated CSA baskets are available every Wednesday so make sure you take advantage to enjoy the best farm produce and sustainably raised meat and seafood in the DMV area.
In addition to dine-in, they offer pickup/delivery via Uber Eats and GrubHub! Their menu’s straight fire so we highly recommend hauling ass or ordering in ASAP to experience the yum that is Baker’s Daughter.
They serve breakfast from 9-11AM and lunch/dinner from 11AM-9PM, Tuesday through Sunday. Expect Michelin star quality food that’s more casual and approachable. Whether you want something healthy or prefer to indulge, they got you covered.
We recommend their chef’s breakfast sandwich (stuffed with gruyere cheese, smoked bacon, virginia ham, baby arugula, espelette aioli, fried egg on toasted sourdough), but if you’re looking to eat clean, get their acai bowl instead. It comes with granola, coconut flakes and berries, and it tastes as delicious as it looks!
We’ve only tried a handful of dishes from their lunch/dinner menu, but we’ve enjoyed everything that we’ve gotten so far. Their sandwiches are especially nomtastic! We recommend either their Jambone Buerre, a classic French ham and cheese sammie on a baguette with butter and cornichons, or their churripan, made with roasted chorizo on baguette with salsa criora and chimichurri.
Their avocado toast is incredible as well though, and it’s available all day long. Topped with micro basil, espelette, and pickled red onions on whole wheat, this dish is almost too pretty to eat…but trust us when we say you want to devour it whole. Other great options include their Mexican posole and their crispy falafel.
For those of you looking for something substantial to go, Chef Matt offers 4-course meals via Tock priced at $45 a person – click here to order, and let us know if you have any questions.
