Bakeshop: The Best Cookies in the DMV

Holy crap, guys! We are so, so, SO beyond stoked to have discovered Bakeshop because their desserts are the bomb.com.  And for the record, that means a lot coming from us because we take sweets very seriously.  We had the pleasure of checking out their cafe + bakery with Justin Schuble (aka DCFoodPorn) and had a blast sampling and photographing noms.  Located on 1025 North Fillmore Street in Arlington, VA, they sell everything from macarons to layer cakes.

We were excited to see that they had Vietnamese Iced Coffee but decided to get lattes this time around…

We took our sweet time browsing their warm and inviting bakeshop!  Everything looked nomtastic so we decided to get an array of things to try:  a half dozen cupcakes ($2.50 each), 3 macarons ($2 each), 4 different cookies ($2 each), and oreos in a blanket ($3.25 each in either chocolate chunk or snickerdoodle).

The cupcakes were fluffy and delicious!  The cake was moist, and the frosting was nice and light.  Our favorite out of the bunch was definitely the red velvet, but you can’t go wrong with any of them so go wild.

Although their cupcakes and macarons were tasty, our fave = their cookies fosho.  Yes, we know that macarons are cookies as well, but we’re talking about “regular” cookies.  We were going to take a shot of them for y’all, but we accidentally dropped them [insert super sad face here] so we couldn’t.  Broken cookies are still delicious, but not so great for photos.  We’re still going to tell you guys about them though because they were SO ridiculously good.

We had their browned butter chocolate chunk, brookie, gingersnap, oreo in a blanket, and snickerdoodle, and they were honestly some of the best cookies we’ve ever had – definitely the best cookies in the DMV.  Their chocolate chunk, brookie and oreo in a blanket were straight up epic – serious must-tries, Nomsters, like we’d totally sit in DMV traffic to get a box of ’em.  Head on over stat to satisfy your sweet tooth.  You can thank us afterwards!

If you’re into sweets then I recommend Sugar Vault, it’s a cupcake place in hyattsville MD.

Agree about their cookies! And you didn’t get to try my favorite one–salty oat apricot–so good!

I’m also a big fan of another local spot — Livin’ the Pie Life. Beyond their divine triple berry pie, their chocolate chip cookies are special–classics for the win.

Ooo! Salt oat apricot sounds incredible. We’ll have to go back and try that for sure! Also, thanks for the recommendation. We can’t wait to try Livin’ the Pie Life as well!
