If you’re looking for amazing seafood in Baltimore, the best choice is Angie’s Seafood in historic Fells Point.   A neighborhood favorite since 2016, Angie’s has an open, full-service bar that seats about 30 people and a large 130-seat dining room perfect for their infamous Drag Brunch.  They serve top-tier seafood options such as steamed crabs,  crab cakes, oysters, lobster tail and shrimp.

They also have steak, chicken and pasta entrees along with a variety of fish featured on their “Catch of the Day” menu.  Their signature dish is the Steak Nina topped with shrimp, scallops, jumbo lump crab and Angie’s special sauce – this one is sure to please any seafood lover!  As if that’s not enough, they also offer a Raw Bar and catering options for your work and family functions.

BmorefoodJimmy’s Famous Seafood

When asked to write about where the best Seafood in Maryland is, I immediately think of where the best crab cakes are. Not many restaurants hold a torch to the FAMOUS Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes at Jimmy’s Seafood that Johnny Crab Cakes and his family have been serving for over 45 years!

I personally had the privilege to eat this delicious crab cake with Owner John Minadakis himself. I was a little afraid they would not live up to the hype, as others in the past have not. Especially with the pressure of having John in my presence to watch my reaction of my first bite. I can honestly say that they are my NEW FAVORITE crab cakes in #MyBmore! They use only the sweetest lumps of crab with very little filler. They are broiled to perfection creating a moist flavorful center when others serve them either too wet or dry.

Do not sleep on the rest of their menu though. Kimberly of Nomtastic Foods and I indulged in their delicious Sushi (yes they serve sushi), Mini Soft Crabs Appetizer and Seafood Paella. The sushi is very fresh and flavorful. The Mini Soft Crabs appetizer comes with 6 halves drizzled with a delicious Chesapeake mustard and hot sauce for a pleasant bite. And last but not least, their Seafood Paella. Besides my mothers, it is hands down the most flavorful paella I have ever tasted! My mother agrees. I had so much left over that I brought some home for her to try and the look on her face when she took her first bite said it all.

So they next time you’re in Charm City and want to see where all of the locals go to get their fix of seafood without breaking the bank, look no further than my friends at Jimmy’s Famous Seafood. It’s great people proudly serving both the community and hungry patrons since they opened their doors in 1974.  #GetFamous

Charm City Food AdventuresDylan’s Oyster Cellar

After you’ve tracked down Baltimore’s best crab cake and gotten tired of picking through bushels of steamed crabs, it’s time to duck into Dylan’s Oyster Cellar in Hampden to explore Baltimore’s other bounties of the sea.

Of course Dylan’s has oysters. Lots of them. From north to south and sometimes from the West Coast, too. Some are briny, some are sweet, some have notes of honeydew or copper. You can try them all or you can keep it simple and go for a dozen local buck-a-shuck happy hour oysters. There’s also oyster stew in the winter and oyster shooters are a great starter year round. You can’t lose no matter how you choose to get down with your oysters.

Dylan’s is also a preserve for the endangered Baltimore coddie. This once locally prevalent deep fried mash of salt cod and potato is served with saltines and mustard and you owe it a try.

However, the anchovy on buttered baguette is my favorite bar snack on the menu. The sardines are a close second. Even if you think you don’t like anchovies or sardines, a single bite might prove you wrong.  But wait! Don’t forget to look at the daily specials board before you order. It’s easy to miss, but it is sure worth a glance and often features PEI mussels and whole fish preparations.  However, if you are still fiending for crabs, fear not! Dylan’s serves up the best soft shell crab sandwich in Baltimore.

JZ EatsThames Street Oyster House

Thames Street Oyster House is hands down the best place to get seafood in Baltimore. Don’t let anyone tell you different! Their lobster roll is my favorite and it’s stuffed to the brim with tail meat (the sweetest part of a lobster). Their shrimp are the largest I’ve ever seen in my life and the oysters are fresh as can be. It’s not all about the size though, everything they produce is pure quality and 100% delicious. Reservations are a must, but you can always try to snag a spot at the bar or their outdoor patio!

Nomtastic Foods:  Nick’s Fish House

Baltimore’s food scene is heavily underrated, and that’s why we love sharing roundups like this.  We’re passionate about showcasing the best eats in Charm City, and it’s no secret that Maryland does seafood better than most.  One of our favorite places in the area is Nick’s Fish House.  Located in Port Covington. they have one of the best crab cakes in town.  There’s a reason why it’s listed as their “famous crab cake dinner.”  Served with Chesapeake fries, tartar sauce and cole slaw, this entree will leave you completely and utterly satisfied.

Also, remember to get an order of their Chesapeake Crab Balls to start!  They’re mini crab cakes with an obscene amount of meat – think 98% crab, 2% filler…if that.  And since the weather’s beautiful, sit outside and enjoy the view, weather, and company while sippin’ on a crush or two.  Our favorite’s grapefruit!
