One of the BEST Brunches in the Navy Yard
Nomsters, we hope you’re ready to wipe some drool off your face because we got some extra delish brunch noms lined up for you today. It’s no secret that Bluejacket’s one of our favorite restaurants, and if it’s not yours yet, it’s probably because you haven’t tried Chef Marcelle’s food. They’re known for their beer, but their food’s just as good, and the space is absolutely gorgeous. It has a cool urban feel which we love, and it’s perfect for dates and friendly get togethers. Their patio’s also pet-friendly so make sure you bring your furry frands with you when it warms up a bit.
Bluejacket Brunch Recommendations
Now, brace yourselves, Nomsters. Chef Marcelle’s new winter brunch menu is sexy as hell so we hope you’re excited. We got her Baked Egg Shakshouka ($14), her Duck Confit Benedict ($16), and her Loaded Breakfast Tots ($13)…then died from our euphoric food comas. The Shakshouka was really tasty, but it wasn’t our favorite dish out of the bunch.
For us, the star of the show was the Duck Confit Benedict. Perfectly poached eggs with succulent pieces of duck, drizzled with beernaise perched on top of SQUASH (!!!!) So it must be healthy, right? Ha. This was a brilliant take on the traditional benedict, and the flavors worked so well together. We appreciated the “lighter” take – because let’s be real, squash IS healthier than bread – and now we expect all our benedicts to come on top of squash. What do you guys think? Would you be down to try this combo?
Loaded Tots that will Blow Your Mind
Then came her Breakfast Tots, and these were pretty much the epitome of brunch foodporn. Think perfectly fried taters with sausage, bacon, jalapeno, triple cheddar, and runny eggs on top. We recommend getting this dish on top of your main entree because we view it more as a ginormous side to share but also because we want you guys to try her other brunch dishes as well. There were so many other delish options we wanted to get – aka we’re going back ASAP – like her Pretzel French Toast, Spice Cake Cinnamon Rolls, her Blue Crab & Avo Toast, and the list just goes on and on.
So, what did you guys think of today’s feature on Bluejacket’s brunch? What looked/sounded the best to you? Let us know what you thought by leaving a comment below. For more on DC’s bamf food scene, click here! Until next time, friends. We hope you have a nomtastic week ahead of you!
