I absolutely LOVE the patio at Bourbon Steak so suffice it to say, I’m thrilled they’re now open for lunch. I recently dined there with my friend Minje (the badass behind Waffie), and we had a lovely time there.
The weather was perfect so we leisurely sipped americanos while perusing their offerings. They brought us their signature rolls to start, and I swear, these only get better with time. Buttery, truffle-y, melt-in-your-mouth magic. I’d eat these every day if I could.
We started our meal off with their Radicchio Salad (served with toasted hazelnuts, pecorino and anchovies) and Michael’s Ahi Tuna Tartare. The salad was good, but the tuna was GREAT! Served with Asian pear, pine nut, scotch bonnet and sesame, this is a very satisfying version of this fine dining classic. Fresh, light, and perfect for summer.
We didn’t want anything too, too heavy for lunch so we decided to get two handhelds to share. It was a tough call since there were so many enticing options on their menu, but we ultimately went with their Connecticut Lobster Roll and their Prime Steak Burger.
They have a REALLY strong lobster roll here. It’s made with shaved fennel salad, brown butter, and served with a side of chips. 10/10 highly recommend; it’s expensive but well worth the splurge IMO.
As for their burger, if you follow me on instagram, you already know that I think they have one of the best in the city. They top theirs with Cabot clothbound cheddar + secret sauce, and it’s damn tasty.
I got mine medium rare, and it was cooked to absolute perfection. Each bite was juicy deliciousness, and I low key dream about it on the regular. Don’t forget to enjoy it with a side of their famous duck fat fries, served 3 different ways with 3 different sauces.
At this point, both Minje and I were stuffed so we called it quits, but Bourbon Steak has some of the strongest desserts in DC. The pastry chef here is an absolute BAMF so definitely make sure to go all out when you go. I had this incredible s’mores dessert the last time I was here, and it was nothing short of amazing. Don’t just take my word for it though – go and get your nom on.
