Description

This viral coke espresso drink layers Coca-Cola, a shot or two of espresso, and cream into a creamy, fizzy sip that balances sweet cola against bitter coffee. Three ingredients and about a minute to make.

Instructions

  1. Add the cola. Fill a glass about two-thirds full with cold Coca-Cola.
  2. Add the espresso. Pull one to two shots of espresso, let them cool for a few seconds, then pour over the cola.
  3. Top with cream. Slowly pour heavy cream over the back of a spoon so it floats on top.
  4. Serve. Sip as is for the creamy-then-fizzy effect, or stir gently to blend, and enjoy right away.

Notes

  • Use cold Coca-Cola straight from the fridge to keep the most fizz.
  • Let the espresso cool briefly so it does not foam up and flatten the soda.
  • Pour the cream over the back of a spoon for a pretty layered look.
  • Dial the espresso up or down to make it more coffee-forward or more soda-forward.
  • No espresso machine? Strong instant espresso or cold brew concentrate works.
