Description
This copycat Orange Julius blends orange juice, milk, and vanilla into a frothy, creamsicle-like drink that tastes just like the mall classic, in about five minutes.
Ingredients
Units
Scale
- 2 cups orange juice (or 6oz orange juice concentrate plus 1 cup water)
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 to 2 cups ice
Instructions
- Blend. Pour the ingredients into a blender in the order listed and blend until smooth. You are looking for a frothy head to form on top, which tells you the consistency is right.
- Adjust and serve. Start with 1 cup of ice for a more liquid drink, or use 1.5 to 2 cups for a slushier texture, then pour and enjoy.
Notes
- Whole milk gives the best texture and flavor; skim and 2 percent come out too thin.
- Swapping in orange juice concentrate plus water adds a stronger orange punch than regular juice.
- A real Orange Julius is between liquid and slushy, so start with 1 cup of ice and add more to taste.
