What’s up, Nomsters! The Holiday season is in full swing and you know what that means… so much delicious food! But there’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes to make each holiday get-together super special every year. Whether you’re brand new to hosting or are consistently the one bringing everything and everyone together, I’ve compiled some awesome tips to help you create the perfect holiday table setup including a huge time saver and instant tradition, Hatfield hams! Let’s jump right in!
1. Decorating the middle of the table
Some people prefer leaving the middle of the table open for serving plates, drinks, and side dishes, but this can sometimes get messy, and it’s hard to have a nice aesthetic when all the food is crammed onto the table along with all your guests’ plates and glasses.
I actually prefer setting up the food either on a kitchen counter or on a different table so everyone can walk over for seconds when they are ready. This not only creates a less claustrophobic dinner table, but it also gives you an amazing opportunity to really enhance the holiday atmosphere by decorating the space in the middle.
Use a table runner
As pictured above, I love placing a beautiful table runner down first, which complements the colors of the room. That can instantly class things up and it’s super aesthetically pleasing.
Include a natural element
Next, throwing in some kind of natural element is a great idea. Using small plants or, like in our case, a vine of leaves definitely adds a freshness to the table and goes well with the earthy tones of the food.
Candles, candles, candles!
Finally, I absolutely love to dim the lights a bit and space some small candles out across the runner. Even when I’ve hosted gatherings of 20+ people, having a touch of intimacy once everyone sits down to eat can really help with the holiday spirit.
2. Save time prepping with Hatfield Hams
This is a big one! With all the time that goes into planning a big holiday gathering, sometimes one thing or another falls by the wayside, which is exactly what you don’t want to happen when you’re trying to impress your guests. Decorating is important, but the FOOD is what everyone in my family looks forward to most every year. So how can I be sure the beauty and quality of the food isn’t sacrificed when flying around the house getting things ready? Hatfield hams to the rescue!
First off, they’re all incredibly easy to prepare, which saves a ton of precious planning time, and they’re always fully cooked, moist, delicious, and full of flavor. My family and I are also very conscientious of how our food products are grown, and we couldn’t be happier that Hatfield shares our concerns and makes sure that all their products come from ethically-raised animals. I chose the Hatfield® Uncured Ham and picked it up from my local Giant Foods.
Recently, Hatfield started offering new ½ Pre-Sliced Pit Ham and ¼ Pre-Sliced Ham (With Natural Juices or With Water Added), which makes it ridiculously easy to to have yummy ham at your holiday table no matter the size of your gathering. And now, for a limited time only, you can get a $2 rebate when you purchase any Hatfield® Uncured Ham! Be sure to click here to claim yours for the holiday.
3. Don’t slack on planning the side dishes
Last, but not least, the side dishes are super important when figuring out the overall look and feel of the dinner table! I always try to find ways to incorporate varying colors to mix things up. This can be achieved in many different ways, but the easiest is to simply put some up front thought into it to be sure each dish is different.
We really liked how the yellows from the rolls, the browns and whites from the cake, the pinks and oranges from the Hatfield® Uncured Ham, and the greens and purples from the salad all came together to make it a feast for our eyes as well as our stomachs.
I hope that gives you some good food for thought (pun intended) when planning your upcoming holiday get-togethers. Planning isn’t always easy, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun! And there’s nothing better than seeing everything fall into place and enjoying a day with those you care about. Till next time, Nomsters!
