Instructions

  1. Melt the butter and marshmallows. In a large pot over medium-low heat, melt the butter, then stir in the mini marshmallows until smooth.
  2. Add the cereal in layers. Off the heat, add 3 cups Rice Krispies, then the Fruity Pebbles, then the last 2 cups Rice Krispies, and stir until fully coated.
  3. Press into the pan. Line a medium baking pan with parchment, add the mixture, and press flat with buttered hands. Cool 10 minutes, then cut into pieces.
  4. Pipe the topping. Fill a piping bag fitted with your favorite tip with marshmallow creme and pipe it onto each piece.
  5. Serve. Enjoy right away, or store for later.

Notes

  • Low, slow heat on the marshmallows keeps the treats soft; high heat makes them hard once set.
  • Keep Rice Krispies as the base and treat the Fruity Pebbles as a one-cup mix-in so the treats still hold together.
  • Swap in any sweet cereal you like, such as Cocoa Pebbles, Reese’s Puffs, or Fruit Loops.
  • Pipe the marshmallow creme just before serving so it stays fresh and neat.
