As die hard fans of “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” we were beyond stoked to meet Guy Fieri in Baltimore at his event at Horseshoe Casino. He was there hosting a small meet-and-greet and filming a short TV segment at his restaurant, and we absolutely loved seeing him in action. His kitchen there offers casual plates with unique flavor profiles – think (very) bold all-American cuisine.
We brought along our good friend Food Nomad and had a blast eating and chatting. There was SO much food, but the star of the night was definitely the crispy fried shrimp. It was served with this amazing aioli, and we couldn’t get enough of it. We also enjoyed trying Guy’s blue-sabi (blue cheese + wasabi). If you love stinky cheeses as much as we do, you’re gonna want to give this dipping sauce a go! You really gotta love blue cheese though. It comes with a variety of different plates but most notably, his Vegas fries. This baby’s his signature dish and it features sidewinder-cut fries that are tossed in spicy buffalo seasoning and topped with blue cheese crumbles.
For those of you interested in sampling his noms, we recommend going during their happy hour – they have great deals from 3-6PM, Monday through Friday! Wings, brisket sliders, fried shrimp, vegas fries, and nachos are all $8 and drinks are half off (!!!) Also, they have a new dining experience called, “Brews with Bites.” On the last Tuesday of every month, they offer a special featuring four beers and four courses for $50. The food’s totally customized, and you’ll get to talk the brewers themselves. They’ll also give you free swag at the end, which is a nice perk!
