Get fancy and make some of these hot cocoa bombs!
They’re basically balls of chocolate filled with hot cocoa mix and marshmallows that you drop into a mug to make hot chocolate. They’re perfect for holiday gatherings, gifts, or just adding a little fun to staying warm this winter.
If you want another cozy mug of chocolate this season, try this miso hot chocolate. It’s a creamy mix of white miso stirred into your regular cocoa gives it a sweet-salty depth that tastes like a salted chocolate chip cookie in a cup.

You just need a dome mold (check our Amazon shop in our bio link for the one we used) and melted chocolate to make basic hot cocoa bombs, and if you want to decorate them, the sky’s the limit!

We chose to drizzle more chocolate on top and add some chocolate and gold flakes to give them a fancier look. How would you decorate yours?

INGREDIENTS (6 Pieces)
10oz dark chocolate melting wafers or white chocolate melting wafers
6 tbsp hot cocoa mix
1 cup mini marshmallows
6 cups whole milk (hot)
INSTRUCTIONS:
1️⃣ Melt the chocolate.
2️⃣ Use a spoon to spread a thin layer of chocolate in each dome of the mold.
3️⃣ Put the mold on an even surface like a baking sheet and place in the freezer for 10 minutes.
4️⃣ Take it out, and if any of the chocolate domes look too thin in certain areas, apply a second layer of chocolate and place back in the freezer for another 5 minutes.
5️⃣ Remove the chocolate domes from the mold and place on the baking sheet.
6️⃣ Heat a small sauce pan on low to medium heat, and then take two chocolate domes that you want to stick together and press them against the pan so it melts the edges.
7️⃣ Place them back on the baking sheet, melted edges up. Fill one dome with a tablespoon of hot cocoa mix and however many marshmallows you’d like. Then take the other dome, line the edges up, and press them together to create the ball shape.
8️⃣ Decorate them however you’d like!
9️⃣ When you’re ready to use them, put one into a mug and pour hot milk over the top. It’ll melt the chocolate ball and release the hot cocoa mix and marshmallows. Then, just mix and enjoy!

Description
These easy hot cocoa bombs are hollow chocolate spheres filled with cocoa mix and mini marshmallows. Drop one into a mug, pour over hot milk, and watch it melt into a cozy cup of hot chocolate.
Ingredients
- 10oz dark chocolate melting wafers or white chocolate melting wafers
- 6 tbsp hot cocoa mix
- 1 cup mini marshmallows
- 6 cups whole milk (hot)
Instructions
- Melt the chocolate.
- Use a spoon to spread a thin layer of chocolate in each dome of the mold.
- Put the mold on an even surface like a baking sheet and place in the freezer for 10 minutes.
- Take it out, and if any of the chocolate domes look too thin in certain areas, apply a second layer and freeze for another 5 minutes.
- Remove the domes from the mold and place on the baking sheet.
- Heat a small sauce pan on low to medium heat, then press the edges of two domes against the pan so they melt slightly.
- Fill one dome with a tablespoon of hot cocoa mix and a few marshmallows, line up the second dome, and press them together into a ball.
- Decorate them however you like.
- To serve, drop a bomb into a mug and pour hot milk over the top. It melts the shell and releases the cocoa mix and marshmallows. Stir and enjoy.
Notes
- Use melting wafers (candy melts), not chocolate chips, so the shells set with a clean snap.
- A silicone sphere mold makes unmolding much easier than a hard plastic one.
- Make ahead: store assembled bombs in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
