Jimmy’s Seafood: The Best Crab Cake in Baltimore

Does Jimmy’s Foods Really That Good?

Nomsters, my mind’s legit blown.  I’ve heard great things about Jimmy’s, and let me tell you, the hype is so real.  I went with Louie (aka bmorefood) a few weeks back, and we got to try several things from their menu thanks to Maroon PR. We started dinner off with a bang with two killer apps: their Coconut Shrimp ($14) and their Mini Soft Crabs ($14).

Which Apps Should You Get?

The shrimp was rolled in fresh coconut and perfectly fried.  It was extra coconutty – and I mean that in the best way possible – and was served with a delicious mango ponzu dipping sauce.  The mini crabs were a home run as well.  It’s hard to go wrong with soft shells to begin with but drizzled with Chesapeake mustard and hot sauce? Irre-freaking-sistible.  You get 6 pieces so everyone at your table can get in on that action…as long as your group’s not too big, ha.

They Have Sushi There?

Not gonna lie, I was hella surprised to see sushi on the menu, but Louie assured me that it was good so we got a roll to share.  I’m actually not big into raw fish so we got something cooked!  Here’s their Spicy Scallop Roll ($10).  It was made with shrimp tempura, asparagus, pan seared scallop, wasabi cream and sriracha.  It wasn’t the best roll I’ve ever had, but it was definitely solid so if you’re in the mood for sushi, and you find yourself at Jimmy’s, you’re good to go.

Now, onto the star of the show, their ridonkulously delicious crab cakes.  These were seriously the best crab cakes I’ve ever had, and I can’t recommend them enough, like I’m legit taking my parents the next time they’re in town.  Louie and I got ours broiled, and each bite was heaven in my mouth.

Faidleys, G&M, Koco, Pappas and Timbuktu are all better crabcakes in the Baltimore area. Check those out.
