“I can’t take you all around the world on a plane, but I can take you all around the world on a plate.” Chef Ed Evans
It’s no secret that I love Chef Ed, the executive chef at Live! Casino & Hotel, and his food. So when I heard about “Around the World on a Plate,” I immediately blocked off the date because I wanted to be there to see his vision come to fruition. He recently competed on the prestigious cooking show, Chopped, and he wanted to donate his potential winnings to kids in underserved communities so they could experience different cultures through food. Unfortunately, he was eliminated in the competition, but that didn’t matter because Live! ended up donating $10k to the Y in Central Maryland to make his dream come true.
Several key figures from the community like councilwoman Sarah Lacy and Tisha Edwards, Baltimore City’s Direct for the Mayor’s Office of Children and Family Success, attended the event to honor Chef Ed and his team for their contributions to the community, and it was a truly moving event for everyone there. There was enough food to feed hundreds, and there was so much to choose from. They had everything from char sui bao to jerk chicken, and it was so great to see the kids enjoying themselves. This was, hands down, one of the best events I’ve ever had the pleasure of attending! Kudos to Chef Ed and Live! for inspiring us all.
