Description
Matcha muddy buddies are a green tea twist on puppy chow: crunchy Chex coated in matcha white chocolate and tossed in matcha powdered sugar. A sweet, earthy, no-bake snack that comes together in minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz White Chocolate Melting Wafers, melted
- 4 tsp Matcha Powder (for the chocolate)
- 4 cups Chex cereal
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tsp Matcha Powder (for the coating)
Equipment
Instructions
- Melt the chocolate. Microwave the white chocolate melting wafers in 30 second intervals, stirring between, until smooth.
- Add matcha. Whisk the 4 tsp matcha into the melted chocolate until smooth.
- Coat the Chex. Pour the matcha chocolate over the Chex in a bowl and fold gently until coated.
- Make the sugar coating. Whisk the powdered sugar and 2 tsp matcha together in a small bowl.
- Shake. Add the coated Chex and matcha sugar to a freezer bag, seal, and shake until dusted.
- Set and serve. Spread out to set for a few minutes, then enjoy.
Notes
- Use culinary-grade matcha for baking; save ceremonial matcha for drinking.
- Melt the white chocolate in short bursts; it scorches fast.
- Whisk the matcha into both the chocolate and the sugar so it does not clump.
- Rice Chex keeps these gluten-free; any Chex flavor works.
- Shake the cereal and sugar in a sealed bag for even coating without crushing.
- Store airtight at room temperature for up to a week; do not refrigerate.
