It seems like plant-based protein is all the rage currently, and it all started with Impossible Foods’ Impossible Burger. These contain plant-based burger patties that they claim taste and look like real meat. Then, to most everyone’s surprise, the fast food chain, Burger King, decided to actually partner with them to create the Impossible Whopper. Now, in an obvious competitive move, McDonald’s has announced that they’re testing a new menu item they call the McDonald’s PLT (plant, lettuce and tomato), which they created in partnership with Beyond Meat, an Impossible Foods competitor.

McDonald’s is currently testing out this menu item in select stores in southwestern Ontario for 12 weeks, so we’ll have to wait and see if they decide to continue with rolling it out to the US locations. Have you tried the PLT? If not, is this something you would consider if you had a McDonald’s craving? Let us know your thoughts!
