You’ve probably heard of mochi donuts as they have gained popularity around the bay area over the last several years, but what you may not have realized is that mochi can be used in many other types of pastries to that chewy deliciousness we love. If you haven’t already read it, be sure to check out our full blog post on Mochill here, but in this post we’re excited to announce mochi cupcakes being added to their menu! If you’ve never had a mochi cupcake, mochi muffin, or any other type of mochi-infused pastry, this is one you absolutely NEED to try.
After thinking long and hard about this next controversial statement, we feel comfortable saying that we actually may like mochi cupcakes more than their donut counterparts. We know! Crazy! But they’re just that enjoyable.
We believe this is because of the density of the mochi cupcakes. This allows them to hold in more moisture, which helps to maintain the mochi consistency and texture, whereas the donuts can sometimes be a little on the dryer side. Given how dense these are, we actually found that we were totally satisfied with eating only a half of one in a sitting, especially if you’re indulging after dinner.
Mochill has some staple flavors like chocolate and matcha, but also rotate other flavors in like the peanut butter and jelly cupcake above and the Oreo cupcake below. The peanut butter and jelly is a must-try and we hope it sticks around for awhile.
Mochill started out as a bomb mochi donut spot, and they continue to offer these delectable delights! If you’d like to read more about these donuts, be sure to check out our full post on Mochill here!
