What’s up, Nomsters! Seattle is home to a lot of great food, but every time I think about going back for another visit, the first place that pops into my head is Nate’s Wings and Waffles! You might think at first glance of their spot just east of downtown, that it’s just another wings joint, but that would be extremely incorrect. The quality that goes into everything they make sets them apart from your run of the mill wings and/or waffle spots, and even more apart from the chains that you’re probably used to. Are you hungry yet? Let’s go!
Nate’s Special Sandwich
I’ll just cut to the chase – this sandwich needs to be experienced to believe. I was sick with a pretty bad sore throat when I came to Nate’s Wings and Waffles the first time and I still thoroughly enjoyed every single bite of this baby. It’s a 3-cheese grilled cheese sandwich shoved full of of crispy chicken strips, onion rings, bacon (optional +$1), and smothered in chipotle barbecue sauce. The sauce gave it just the right amount of sweetness to compliment the savoriness and saltiness of everything else, and cheese just makes everything better. As if all that wasn’t incredible enough, it looks like they prepared it with a panini press, so you get that amazing crispiness and texture with the bread. You NEED to try one of these ASAP!
Nate’s Wings and Waffles has a whopping seven different styles of wings to choose from, and they’re all super bomb. In addition to the flavor, you can also choose to have your wings “naked” or breaded, depending on how you do yo thaaang. From top to bottom in the photo below, we got the Classic Buffalo, Honey Sweet Chili, and Chipotle BBQ Wings. You really can’t go wrong, but one thing to mention is that the buffalo wings have a pretty serious kick, so if your spice tolerance is low, you should probably stick to the Chipotle BBQ.
Surprisingly, I thought the waffles at Nate’s Wings and Waffles were the least impressive items out of everything. They were still delicious, but were just lacking a bit in the flavor department compared to the other dishes I got. The Savory Waffle is their signature Belgian waffle with cheddar cheese and green onions, and I do recommend it because I’m a big fan of combining sweet and savory in the same plate, so when you pour on the syrup, it’s pretty darn mouth-watering!
Nate’s Wings and Waffles should, for sure, make your list of restaurants to try even if you’re only in town for a day or two. I still have dreams about eating that sandwich and it makes me wish I was closer all the time! Have you tried this spot before? If so, what did you think? Let us know in the comments. Till next time, Nomsters!
