Pearl’s Bagels, DC Better than NYC?!?!?

That’s right, we said it!  And we don’t need “magic water” to hold our own…

pearl's bagels

Named after their adorable French bulldog, husband and wife team Allee and Oliver opened Pearl’s during the pandemic to bless DC with ridiculously delicious bagels.  They left their media jobs after getting married and switched career paths to bake full time, and we couldn’t be more thankful because their carby magic is nothing short of pheNOMenal – see what we did there?

They source their ingredients locally whenever possibly, and all their doughy goodness is hand-rolled daily.  Expect chewy, crispy deliciousness that will leave you completely and utterly satisfied.  We’re big into bagel sandwiches, so naturally we got a few to share.  For this particular foodventure, we got the following:

  1. Classic Lox:  Ivy City Nova lox, plain cream cheese, capers, pickled red onions, microgreens
  2. Pharmacy Special:  scallion and chive cream cheese, Epic Curing naked bacon, tomato
  3. The Frenchie:  ham, cage-free eggs, gruyere cheese, Grey Poupon dijon mustard

Each one was delicious in its own right so we don’t really have a specific recommendation for y’all – it just boils down to what you’re in the mood for so go wild! And PS., they don’t skimp on toppings so expect a thick, filling handheld that’ll leave you full for hours.

They’re currently open for takeout ONLY, but we hear that they’re offering dine-in soon so make sure you keep an eye out!  Swing by from 8AM-2PM Wednesday through Sunday to get your fix, and make sure to leave us a comment with your thoughts post nom sesh.

NOTE:  they get busy AF so order ahead if you can, and remember to be PATIENT.  Everyone’s understaffed and overworked so be understanding, be kind, just be a human.  That’s all.  Bon appétit!  For more on DC eats, check out this tab, and stay tuned for more delish content coming your way.
