What’s up, Nomsters! It seems like plant based protein is all the rage recently, but with the increase in popularity and more players entering the market, how do you know what’s actually worth trying? Well, we recently cooked up a few of the the brand new Awesome Burgers from Sweet Earth, and we love them! In a lot of ways it felt and tasted like eating a regular beef burger, and it definitely had the best flavor of any of the other plant based protein products out there – even the more well-known brands!

One thing that always turned me off from the other brands was the fact that the patties would almost always fall apart or crumble as you were eating the burger, but not these patties. They’re thick, juicy, and the texture is on point! They also brown really nicely, and on first glance you definitely wouldn’t think this wasn’t beef. It’s even got 26 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber in every patty, so if you were thinking you’d be missing out since it’s plant based protein, think again!

Our recipes:

We cooked the patties on a skillet exactly as they described on the product packaging, and they came out to be a perfect medium. They mention that there will be a tiny bit of pink on the inside when it’s done, which is totally normal. We then prepared burgers two different ways.

On the first, we added spring mix greens on the bottom, then the patty, and fresh cut tomatoes and red onion. You can eat it just like that and it’s delicious, or you can drizzle some blue cheese dressing on top for some added boldness if that’s your thing.

The second burger was prepared with spring mix greens, red onion, tomatoes, and fresh sliced avocado. This is kind of like our plant based protein California burger! If you want a little additional pop, you can add some thousand island dressing to this one.
