Rocketbird is one of our favorite fried chicken sandwich spots in SF, and one of the reasons is because they prioritize inclusion and giving back to the community. Even before this new plant-based sandwich was released, they had a fried maitake mushroom that you could swap into any of the sandwiches on their menu for a vegetarian option, and the Sea Bird expands their selection of vegan and vegetarian sandwiches.

Rocketbird’s Sea Bird
The newest addition to their lineup, the Sea Bird, is a partnership with Good Catch Foods and their plant-based fish. It’s layered with pickled red onions, their house-made Rocketbird Tartar Sauce, Little Gem Lettuc, and avocado on an artisanal potato bun. If you order it like this, it’s vegetarian, but you can also make it vegan by ordering it in a lettuce wrap and passing on the tartar sauce.

I really enjoyed it, and the texture of the plant-based fish is actually pretty similar to a crab cake (just the texture, not flavor). Definitely give it a shot!
