Would you pour Sprite in your ramen?? 😱
I recently stumbled across the viral Korean ramen hack from the K-Drama, Prison Playbook, which basically uses Sprite (actually, Chilsung Cider, but lemon lime soda either way) and a few other ingredients to soak the noodles, and guess what…. it was ACTUALLY really good! 😋
I was seriously skeptical at first, but I’m so glad I gave it a shot.
The combination of Sprite and Korean plum syrup gives the noodles this amazing citrus, sweet, and tart flavor, while the sesame oil adds a touch of nuttiness, and the seasoning packet provides a savory spiciness to round it all out. 🍜
These flavors are all surprisingly complimentary of each other!
The only thing that sucks is that it takes about 30 minutes for the noodles to soften when soaking in the Sprite, so it’s not exactly “instant” ramen, but if you don’t mind planning a little ahead, it’s totally worth it.
The full recipe is below, and be sure to let us know what you think in the comments if you give it a try! 🙌

What are Sprite noodles?
Sprite noodles are exactly what they sound like: instant ramen cooked with Sprite (or a similar lemon-lime soda) right in the broth, a trick that blew up after showing up in a K-drama. The soda adds a sweet, slightly tangy fizz that mellows the heat, and the result is a sweet-and-spicy bowl of Sprite noodles you will want to make again.
INGREDIENTS
1 Shin Ramyun
1 Sprite
1 spoonful of plum syrup
1/2 spoonful of sesame oil
1 Shin Ramyun seasoning packet
INSTRUCTIONS:
1️⃣ Soak the noodles in Sprite for about 30 minutes or until noodles soften, then stir them up.
2️⃣ In a separate bowl, pour in 3 spoonfuls of Sprite, 1 spoonful of plum syrup, 1/2 spoonful of sesame oil, and the seasoning packet and mix well.
3️⃣ Pour it into the Shin Ramyun, mix, and enjoy!
