Alright friends, it’s time for another restaurant review. Today we’re going to discuss Tacombi Bethesda. I went in for lunch with my mom a few weeks back, and although there’s a lot of hype around this spot, I’m not sure if it lives up to it.
Don’t get me wrong, the food was solid, but was it worth spending $7 for a taco? Nah. So, here’s everything we got:
- Corn Esquites ($4.98)
- Guacamole con Totopos ($14.48)
- Al Pastor Taco ($4.98)
- Baja Crispy Fish Taco ($6.98)
- Carne Asada Taco ($6.98)
- Agua de Sandia ($3.98)
- Lupita Pineapple Soda ($3.98)
The highlight of the meal (by far) was DEFINITELY the corn. That was ridiculously tasty, and it’s something I would go back for. The guac (standard) was done well, too, but $15 for it? Eh, not sure if I would get it again. I loved the Totopos chips though – super crunchy and delicious.
Our server (who was lovely by the way) said their crispy fish taco was unreal so we obviously had to try that. It ended up just being ok.
There are so many amazing taco spots in the DMV that it’s hard not to compare. Now, I’m happy to pay $7 for a delicious taco, but for an ok one? Probably not.
I was really excited to try their house-made beverages, but they were just fine as well. The fresh watermelon juice was a little too sweet for my taste, and the soda had an iffy aftertaste I wasn’t a fan of. Sorry guys, I hate to be a debbie downer, but I most likely won’t be back! Let me know what you though of their meal by leaving a comment below.
