Texas Jack’s: The Best Barbecue Place in Arlington

If you’re in the mood for some solid barbecue in A-town, head over to Texas Jack’s to get your fix.  There’s a reason why the Washington Post named them #1 best BBQ Joint in the DC area.  Located at 2761 Washington Boulevard, they’re open Sunday through Thursday from 11AM-9PM and Friday & Saturday 11AM-9:30PM.

As per usual, we got our food to-go, and we were amazed by their packaging.  Our noms came in a big box, and everything was placed strategically so it’d travel well.  When we got home, we kicked lunch off with an order of their pico de belly ($11) and deviled eggs ($7).

As you can imagine, the former’s a play on pico de gallo, and it’s served with fresh tortilla chips that are made in house.  It came with lime, tomatoes, jalapeño, cilantro and copious amounts of crispy pork belly.  The meat had a smokiness to it that we loved and overall, the app was light and refreshing.  The deviled eggs were on point so if you’re craving ’em, they’re a solid option for sure.

For our main, we got their meat sampler because we wanted to try a variety of their BBQ offerings.  And for $28, they gave us SO much food – we got 1/4 lb. brisket, 1/4 chicken, 2 ribs, 1/4 lb. pulled pork and 1/4 lb. sausage.  It was more than enough for the two of us, and we had leftovers for days.

Everything was delicious, but our favorites were the pulled pork, brisket and sausage.  The meat was so tender and flavorful, and the sausage had a wonderful texture to it that we loved.  Douse your meat in their nomtastic BBQ sauce – you have a choice between original and spicy – or enjoy it without.

As for sides, they offer all the standards.  Think potato salad, coleslaw, corn bread, mac & cheese and more.  Our favorite side of the bunch was their baked beans – sweet and savory pinto beans stewed to perfection – but we also hear amazing things abut their collard greens so we’ll definitely be back to give that a try.  PS.  don’t forget to get an order of their banana cream pudding for dessert!
