United Tastes of America: Maryland

Alright Nomsters, it’s time for a fun new series – you guys know how much we love collaborating! We’ve partnered up with our favorite food bloggers for our latest, “United Tastes of America.”  Haha, get it?  We’re featuring one BAMF per state, and he or she (she in today’s case) will be sharing their top nom recommendations.  Stay tuned for some serious foodporn and make sure you share with friends and family who currently reside in said state or are planning on visiting.  Sooo, let’s get to it:

Name:  Rachel Lipton (like the tea EATS)

City/State: Baltimore, Maryland

Where to:

1. Grab brunch with your friends: Cava Mezze in Harbor East – the menu is AYCE with $0.25 mimosas so it’s definitely a crowd pleaser. The plates are small so you can indulge a little and get pancakes while also having an order of one of the healthier/lighter options.

2.  Satisfy late night cravings: The Local Fry – there are so many great options to choose from between loaded fries, crispy wings, and bahn mi’s it’s the best place for late night food.

3.  Splurge $$$ on a killer meal: Charleston Restaurant in Harbor East is probably my favorite restaurant in Baltimore right now. For the amount of food you get, it’s actually pretty reasonable. But because you need to commit to a prix fix dinner, the price can seem pretty intimidating.

4.  Go for date night: My first date with my girlfriend was at Hersh’s in Federal Hill so it holds a sentimental spot for us. In the summer, Hersh’s has a wonderful patio and in the winter there’s a super cosy vibe inside. My favorite thing on their menu is the Fumo E Fucco Pizza.

5.  Eat clean: Nalley Fresh! They have such a variety of salad options to satisfy whatever you’re craving.

6.  Enjoy coffee/tea with a friend: Order + Chaos has to be one of my new favorites. The coffee is awesome and I can’t leave without ordering a walking waffle.

7.  Dine on a budget: Ekiben – You could walk away with a delicious meal for under $15. Everything on the menu is fantastic but my favorite is the original steam bun and you can’t go wrong with a side of crispy broccoli.

8.  Find the best happy hour deals: Wit and Wisdom has an awesome half price menu at the bar and there’s also $1 oysters and $5 glasses of champagne at the kitchen table.

9.  Eat for the gram: LB Bakery – In the Lord Baltimore Hotel, these are some of the prettiest pastries in the city.

10.  Go with a large groupThe Food Market – The menu is just big enough that there’s something for everyone and there are also plenty of smaller plates that it’s so easy to share.
