Ingredients
Units
Scale
- ice
- 1.5 oz espresso (freshly brewed)
- 1.5 oz whipped cream vodka
- 1 oz coffee liqueur
- 1 large marshmallow (toasted)
- 3 coffee beans (optional garnish)
Equipment
Instructions
- Add to the shaker. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, then pour in the espresso, whipped cream vodka, and coffee liqueur.
- Shake hard for about 20 seconds, until the shaker is frosty and the drink is frothy.
- Strain into a chilled glass and let the foam settle on top.
- Toast the marshmallow. Skewer it and toast with a kitchen torch or over a stove flame, then rest it on the rim.
- Garnish with 3 coffee beans on the foam and serve right away.
Notes
- Use fresh, hot espresso (cooled for a minute) for the best froth and flavor. A strong Nespresso shot works too.
- Shake hard for a full 20 seconds. The foam comes from agitation, not from any special ingredient.
- A drier coffee liqueur balances the sweet whipped cream vodka best.
- No whipped cream vodka? Use plain or vanilla vodka with a small splash of simple syrup or cream.
- Serve immediately. The foam deflates within a few minutes.
- For a party, pre-mix the liquids and refrigerate, then shake each glass with ice to order.
