Where to Get Dim Sum in Washington DC

Alright Nomsters, I finally got to check out Da Hong Pao “post-pandemic.”  I’ve heard awesome things about this spot but I never got to try their food until now, which is a travesty but better late than never, right?  I went on a Thursday, as soon as they opened, and they still got pretty damn busy at lunchtime.  They don’t take reservations though so make sure you get there early, especially if you’re heading over on a weekend.

As far as I know, there are only two restaurants in DC that offer the full dim sum experience:  Da Hong Pao on 14th Street and the new Han Palace in Woodley Park.  And BTW, I’m dining there next week so I’ll be sure to report back with deets.  For now, let’s focus on DHP!

As per usual, my friend and I got a large spread for the table – we got all sorts of delicious staples like turnip cake, pork and shrimp shumai, baked pork bun, bean curd skin roll, shrimp stuffed eggplant and oh so much more.  Everything was reasonably priced (for DC), and I thought the food was solid.

I personally prefer the dim sum spots in Rockville, but Da Hong Pao’s a fantastic option for those of you looking to stay in the area.  I’m just glad I have a go-to spot in the district now – DMV traffic can be terrible, and sometimes the 30-45 minute drive’s absolutely  brutal.

Service was quick – your food comes out SO fast – and they have a decent sized patio area so you have the option of dining outdoors as well.   So, have you guys been to this gem yet?  Curious to hear your thoughts.  Let me know by leaving a comment below, and make sure to check back soon for more content coming your way.  And in the meantime, head to my DC tab to read more about delish eats in the capital!  Until next time, Nomsters.
