Words can’t even begin to express how much I love Vace Italian Delicatessen. Located in Cleveland Park, this unassuming deli’s nothing short of life changing. There’s a reason they’ve been around for 40 years, and it’s really quite simple. Their food’s just damn good.
The shop’s known for their subs and pizza, but they have a ton of frozen foods available, in addition to deli meats, cheeses, fresh pastas and dry goods. And everything’s pretty affordable so if you’re looking for budget-friendly eats, you’re welcome in advance.
Don’t be afraid to get a whole pie because their pizza freezes really well. My favorite’s their mushrooms and pepperoni, but their white pizza with onions is delicious as well. I love that Vace puts their sauce on top, and the marinara pictured below has a nice kick to it. The crust is crispy and beautiful, and you can buy it by the slice or call ahead to get a full pie.
As always, I couldn’t leave Vace without getting a prosciutto sub. It’s crazy how affordable their food is! You can get your sandwich on Italian or focaccia, but go early because they sell out of the latter often.
I got mine with onions, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and hot peppers, and as you can see, they were very generous with the prosciutto. They have over 20+ meats to choose from so definitely make sure you get your charcuterie here. Everything’s freshly cut in front of your eyes, and the quality’s second to none.
Make sure you guys save room for dessert because their cannoli is delicious as well. I also hear really great things about their tiramisu so that’s on my list, too. Now, Vace is strictly carryout so take your food and enjoy it outside if weather permits or pray that DMV traffic doesn’t suck so you can indulge in the comfort of your home ASAP.
I honestly can’t recommend Vace enough. They’re truly a DC gem, and I can’t wait for you guys to try their food if you haven’t yet. Do yourself a solid and go ASAP – just make sure you report back because I want to hear your thoughts!
