Song: The Best Tonkatsu in Seoul, South Korea

Alright fam, today’s pics are weaksauce, but I’m sharing them anyway because I LOVED this restaurant.  I know today’s title is bold, but I’m not playing around.  Located inside the Hyundai Mall in Seoul, South Korea, Song is everything you’ve ever dreamed of.  Ok so maybe THAT’S an exaggeration, but holy crap, their cheese tonkatsu is good.  In fact, I’d go as far as to say it was the best tonkatsu in Seoul.

They only really have three things here:  udon, soba and tonkatsu.  You can choose from a variety of different combinations though, and fyi, the food was so good that I drove an hour to come back here a second time.  My go-to was their cheese donkatsu combo.  It was about $14, and it came with a side of udon.

The udon was tasty yet standard, but the tonkatsu?  Oh man.  The exterior was crispy perfection from beginning to end, and there was no sogginess at any point.  The meat was succulent, and the breading was thin and stayed totally put.  The last part’s important to me because it’s a serious pet peeve of mine.

I know it’s first world problems, but I get so sad when any breading falls off.  The accompanying cabbage salad was lovely, and it added a different kind of crunch that contrasted nicely with the tonkatsu’s crispiness.  So 10/10 Nomsters, and this goes without saying, but I ate everything on my tray.

My mom got their regular tonkatsu, and it came with a side of soba.  I didn’t get to try her noodles because I was so busy devouring my own, but it got rave reviews on both occasions.  Now, there’s one other thing you need to try when you come, and that’s their dumplings!

We were actually stuffed, but they looked so good we decided to get a batch of our own.  Good thing we did because they were delectable, like top 5 best dumplings we’ve ever had  in Korea delectable.

If you’re in the mood for some seriously tasty fried shiz, make sure you hit up Song.  I promise you that their cheese donkatsu will literally make you “MMMM” out loud.  They’re located on 159-7 Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu so go Nomsters.  For more South Korean food content, check out our travel tab!
