If you’ve been on the hunt for a fried chicken sandwich to rule them all in San Francisco, look no further. The Bird SF, located at 115 New Montgomery, has one of the best fried chicken sandwiches in town, but they also serve some other scrumptious chicken and non-chicken creations. TL:DR, you 2 billion percent need this place in your life, so let me show you exactly why.
Fried Chicken Sandwich
The Bird SF is famous for their Fried Chicken sandwiches, and they come in three variations – regular, spicy, and “naked bird.” The spicy one has a definite kick, but it’s not just hot sauce or chili powder thrown onto the chicken. It has this amazing tanginess to it with some slight sweetness that really compliments the flavorful chicken. We’re pretty convinced they use dark or thigh meat because it’s super moist and SO good.
The regular uses the same delicious crispy fried chicken, just without their signature spicy coating, and the naked bird is the fried chicken without a bun and served with their house-made apple slaw on the side.
Also, brioche buns? Heck yes.
If you’re not feeling sandwichy, The Bird SF still has you covered. You can always get the “naked bird” mentioned above, but they also have some shockingly yummy hot wings! They’re a little crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, and if you decide to get the spicy ones, they’re coated in the same tangy spiciness we love from their sandwiches.
Fully Loaded Fries
Curly fries are never a bad idea, but especially when you load them up with melted cheddar cheese, applewood-smoked bacon, cream, and green onions. We cut through the bag they come in so you can see a cross section with all that cheese dripping down to the bottom. Don’t question the feelings you’re having right now – just me and order a side of these the next time you go.
